The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is a supreme federal authority of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Climate change, scarcity of raw materials, urbanization and demographic development are global challenges. Materials research is making an important contribution addressing them. New materials and materials are decisive drivers for innovation in order to enhance competitiveness and innovation in Germany and also to sustainably improve social prosperity and the quality of life in our country. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will invest around 100 million euros per year in materials research as part of the research programme "From Material to Innovation" until 2024.
